Korumburra

The owners had a very clear vision of how they wanted their home to look, and the roof was specified to be feature of the home.  The other design criteria were that all aspects were to be ‘clean’ and ‘simple’ – with a minimum of fuss and adornment.  The home also needed to work on an irregularly shaped block of land, and incorporate a carport and garage/shed, whilst taking advantage of the rural landscape to the rear of the property.

Farm Houses dedicates as much time as is required by all clients to ensure that the final design meets with the owner’s expectations in terms of size, space, functionality, and appearance.  This attention to the owner’s desires is followed through in the construction stage, with regular on-site meetings held with the clients to ensure that the home is proceeding according to their expectations.

Some of the features selected by the owners include timber panel lining to the walls in the kitchen and dining area, and the main bathroom, timber panel lined ceiling with exposed beams to the upstairs area, and extensive inclusion of fretwork both upstairs, and down.  The almost austere color scheme of ‘white-on-white’ highlights the beauty of the luxury fittings and Grey Iron Bark flooring chosen by the owners.

The “Korumburra” is a charming cottage-style country home, combining simplicity and complexity with a harmonious result.

“The staff at Farm Houses were fantastic to work with – they were very professional and friendly, and happy to spend a lot of time with us to get the design right. "
